Entry #0001

I have been a home pc builder for quite some time now, and I must say that it is an addiction. I do have to give full credit to the people who have helped me over the years with all my questions and ideas. KC Freels who built my very first “custom” computer when I was 15 years old. His energy and brainpower is amazing, very awesome person all the way around. Andrew, who has helped me with every computer since then. He has a perfect eye for what is good quality on the market, and what is a fad. And he just so happens to know a bit about making computers too :) James, who has inspired me to continue building and improving my works. He’s an Intel guy, amd I’m AMD.. so this provides for some interesting conversations. And of course, JERMS was there to help me on the software side of things, and introduced me to ACID Music that helped me get started in DJing.

Below are some pictures of my current tower and laptop. I will not go into detail about the laptop, only because it’s a cheapo notebook I bought off of James’ mom for $100.00. Nothing to fancy to talk about.

My Desktop and Laptop

As you can see, I have two 14″ proview LCD monitors. I know you’re probably thinking, “14 inches!” but I had to have them. They are the thinest lcds I’ve ever seen, and have a very good picture quality. Not the best for gaming, but I don’t do much of that anymore.

On the desk is a 5 dollar keyboard from newegg that Andrew pointed me towards. It’s been the best keyboard I’ve ever owned. Beside it is a Logitech MX518 Optical 1600DPI mouse. Simply put, the best mouse I’ve ever had.
My Desktop

As far as the tower goes, here are the specs:

AMD 2700+ / 1GB Kingston HyperX / 2-80GB Western Digital SE HD’s / NVIDIA 6600GT 128mb DDR3 AGP / DVD and CD Burner

I went with AMD and NVIDIA because I’ve used them before, and never had a problem (except for that one AMD that burnt up on me, but that was a fluke). The case I picked up from TigerDirect because of the overall looks of the tower. I’ll have to admit, as far as heat and noise are conserned, it’s not the best. But I love the way it looks.

I am running the laptop and desktop on a wireless network (desktop is hardlined in). All pictures/music/movies/etc. are saved and stored on the desktop. Any other computers in the house can access these shared files. In fact, there is nothing saved on the laptop harddrive other than the OS (for obvious reasons).

Well, that’s all for now, I will continue rambling on about it at a later point.
