I happen to think Sandra's character grew due to the plot allowing her to do so more than Keanu's. I understand that folks are biased about Keanu since you would normally expect him to say "dude" after every sentence; however, you can't let that prevent you from enjoying this movie, especially since he's not like that at all. As far as the brother goes, he didn't make me feel nervous although I did feel a little jumpy from the way all the characters just seemed to be thrown in randomly. I feel no need to ask for an explanation concerning the mailbox/lake house just as I wouldn't question how it's possible for Harry Potter to talk to snakes or fly around on a broom. The only problem I had with their communication issues was the physical talking when they were each at home. I guess we're just left to assume that the connection carried over or that they had written down everything at a separate point seeing that they couldn't seem to talk to each other without the mailbox at other points in the movie.
